Fun in the Night
Camping over the weekend gives some great opportunities to look up to the stars while around the camp fire.
They weren't wrong in saying it was going to be an active night for a meteors. Nice and peaceful up Logan Canyon and around Tony Grove Lake where the majority of these are from. Definitely going to have to be an annual thing.
There's nothing quite like the dark of night with the quiet of the mountains.
Spent some time staring up towards the sky at Tony's Grove Lake waiting for the Big Dipper to fall low enough to land in view. It's a lovely spot to sit and watch. Especially nice this late into fall with the cool temperatures and quiet environment.
The annual Perseids meteor shower had me out looking for some clear skies. As suggested by the first shot, we had some heavy cloud cover on the first peak night of the storm. Second attempt, to the North end of the Salt Lake had better results with a lucky clear strip of sky running North to South. This spot is also known for it's Elephant shaped rock.
Didn't come back with any great meteor shots but learned enough to grab some better sky shots next time. It's also got me planning for some very cold nights in the winter.
