San Francisco: Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, Fisherman's Wharf, and a whole lot of hills.

Quick visit to San Francisco after leaving Yosemite to explore this notable town. Walking around the Northern end of the island will get you to everything you want to see quick. Though with the hills this city is built on, your calves will feel it later!

You can see Alcatraz from most vantage points that are high enough to see over buildings. Along with the Golden Gate bridge. Though of course both are reliant on the current weather keeping any fog out of the area.

Yosemite National Park, California

Home to incredible scenery, the Yosemite National Park is a wonderland of granite, trees, and water. Though this year it is suffering from drought and the waterfalls were rather scarce. The towering granite walls of the Yosemite Valley were truly spectacular. Someday when I returned I'll have to dedicate more time to climbing and exploring. Though never to the point of those a bit of a ways down. (First 3 photographs are of Hawthorne Lake, just to the east of Yosemite.)

You're likely to pass Hawthorne Lake when entering Yosemite from the East.

El Capitan, the distinct rock formation, is recognized around the world for it's climbing opportunities. To try and give a reference as to it's scale, here's a few images.

Train ride from Vişeul de Sus up the Vaser River

Growing up we learned that Utah is a desert in school. Though living here, with green grass and growing trees. I'd never really considered it to be. Having traveled all around the world, it's pretty apparent.

Vişeul de Sus is located in Northern Romania. Primarily used for the lumber industry, a train ride offers a trip into the Vaser River Valley for tourists. Pulled by an old fashion Steam Engine the ride is about 1.5 hours before a stop for lunch and time to relax. It's a beautiful spot.

Chipul lui Decebal and Danube River

This rock sculpture is of Decebalus, the last kind of Dacia. It is located along the Danube river along the border with Serbia. Which I was in for a few minutes as we traveled by boat! So, I guess I can add Serbia to the list as well.

Corvin Castle and Sarmizegetusa Regia

Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, is located in Hunedoara Romania. First visit to a truly fortified castle. Oh so fun.

Sarmizegetusa Regia - Historical Dacian Capital and Religious city.
