Oak Alley Plantation below is named so for the alley of Oak trees leading up to the mansion. Constructed at the time to help funnel cool air from the near by river (Visible just over the bank at the end of the alley) to the large house for a hot New Orleans summer. Having now experienced Oak trees in full, I would love to have something similar one day around my own home.  The way Oak trees spread out while reaching for the sun creates something amazing. The mansion and the grounds at Oak alley are worth a visit and some time to explore.

There's a lot of history in this part of the nation. Which made me wish I had more time to see it all. At least here at the Laura Plantation I was able to step into the other side.

And a few clips along Bourbon street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Big cities are nice and all. I have found I'm more of a country boy though!
